New Rules Legal Thought Leadership
Join us for a webinar Sept. 27 with Jim Durham and Marsha Redmon

Legal Thought Leadership has changed. Dramatically.

Using Legal Thought Leadership to build a law practice has been popular for over 20 years.

In the past, if you gave some speeches and wrote some articles somewhat consistently — you might own a relatively narrow niche. Particularly if there were few other lawyers competing for airtime!

And now the competition for airtime — or attention — has increased dramatically. How many webinar invitations have you received this year for an event on the impact of Dodd-Frank? How many client alerts? Do you wonder how you can be more effective in reaching the right people with your resources?

Join our webinar Sept. 27: The New Rules of Legal Thought Leadership: How to Stand Out and Get Noticed

Here’s a preview:

Join me, Marsha Redmon and Jim Durham, CMO of McGuire Woods LLP for a webinar on the New Rules of Legal Thought Leadership on September 27 at 1 p.m. EST.

In the webinar we will cover:

A realistic assessment of Thought Leadership as a business development strategy

What lawyers and firms need to do differently now

The problems and benefits of Social Media in successful profile raising

When Thought Leadership is the wrong strategy

A hot topic checklist to help you identify a compelling topic in your niche

Examples of successful Thought Leadership at law firms big and small

Stanford study finds women who are aggressive, confident and assertive -- but who know when to turn those characteristics off -- get more promotions than men.

A recent Stanford study finds that women who are aggressive, confident and assertive in business — but know when to turn those characteristics off — get more promotions than men.

Assertive but “self-monitoring” women received 1.5 times as many promotions as men.

“The interesting thing here is that being able to regulate one’s masculine behavior does not simply put women on par with men, it gives them even more of an advantage,” notes Professor Olivia O’Neill, co-author of the study.

The study followed MBA students for 8 years and found that “self-monitoring” aggressive women who knew when to turn off their masculine characteristics in certain social situations gained more promotions than both men and other aggressive women who did not “self-monitor.”

What insight does this hold for women lawyers?
